More flights coming from Frankfurt

Additional flights from Frankfurt, Germany will be touching down at the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) during the winter season.

This is as a result of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) entering an agreement with Lufthansa Group to operate a new service to the island commencing October 28, 2019.

CEO of the BTMI, William “Billy” Griffith, said that the agreement will see Eurowings, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lufthansa, offer flights from Frankfurt three days a week – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

This will add to the already twice weekly service to Barbados by Condor.

“We have been fortunate to have an agreement with the Lufthansa Group… We already have Condor, so there will then be five flights a week from Frankfurt Airport to Barbados… It is a new energy for us. It is significantly more seats, so we have a lot more work to do.

“It’s going to be very exciting in terms of our growing not only the German market, but also Continental Europe as well because there is significant connectivity – Italy, Zurich, etc… We met with some of the key tour operators and we believe that it is going to be a game changer for us in Continental Europe,” he pointed out.

With an aim to fill all seats, Griffith further revealed, “We are going to have a major European meeting in Barbados on the first week of April… We will work out a strategy for communications and public relations, advertising and marketing, initiate some new roadshows, and we are going to do some good partnerships with the key tour operators and also the hotel partners. So, we have a lot of work to do within the next three weeks to get this going.” (TL)
