Minister of the Word, Chad Campbell, speaking during the Chalky Mount Wesleyan Holiness Church’s Deeper Life Crusade.

Minister: Have a deeper relationship with God

Minister Chad Campbell has called for people to deepen their relationship with God and not allow the happenings of the world to distract from it.

Campbell, who was speaking during the Chalky Mount Wesleyan Holiness Church’s Deeper Life Crusade, made the cry for people to deepen their dependence, deepen their desire and deepen their devotion to God. The service yesterday was a continuation of the week-long series of services and the young speaker told those listening that his words meant more than just going to church and congregating with other members.

“It goes beyond just meeting our brothers and sisters in the house (church), but it is about meeting with God in spirit and in truth.”

Campbell highlighted that many times, people have a craving for food, entertainment, money and material things, but a desire for a better connection with God takes a backseat.

“We can look around and see how unhappy people become when their desires go unmet, when they are not able to get what they want. We need not let the examples of the world become our example, but let us desire the one who can give us all things. He is Jesus Christ,” he said.

The minister expanded by saying that this season had been one in which it was easy to feel overwhelmed and drained. Campbell said that the external factors in the world right now, have overridden the images of God and replaced them with feelings of fear and anxiety.

He called for the people listening to the stream, to move past their comfort zones and comfortable memories because times have changed. Making reference to the new normal of church via streaming and few face-to-face meetings and the application of safety protocols, Campbell urged people not to lose their desire for God, and stated that the scriptures have long said how the world would become.

“We have been told that the world would become the place that it is today. Therefore, we need not to worry about what will happen to us, we need not worry about what will happen in the coming months. What we need to do is to deepen our devotion to our God,” said Campbell. (AS)
