Information security a priority

Local businesses have been taking information security very seriously and leading telecommunications provider, Flow, has been working closing with them.

Word of this comes from Director of C&W Business, Maya Wiltshire. She was at the time presenting at Flow’s media roundtable, which observed Safer Internet Day under the theme “Create, Connect and Share Respect: A Better Internet Starts with You”, yesterday.

C&W Business offers customers access to next-generation, high-performance networks and comprehensive IT solutions to enable businesses and governments to stay competitive and embrace the digital transformation.

“I find that security now is being looked at more seriously than it would have been in the past… The conversations we are having now, businesses are taking it very seriously, especially in light of disaster recovery as well. We see that businesses are looking at how their information is protected – not only from totally losing the information, but making sure that they have it backed up, etc.”

“We know in the past that persons would have been comfortable just having their information stored on a back-up drive and they are recognising that is not effective anymore, especially in a business environment,” she indicated.

“We have our sales engineering team and they would sit with the businesses and go through best practices, etc and give them the advice in terms of what they should or should not be doing.”

Wiltshire also took the opportunity to highlight the company’s Unified Threat Management (UTM) solution which protects users ì Internet browsing by integrating services such as the protection of external access to the network and to the Internet, IPS, content filtering, VPNs, antiviruses, and antispam.

She pointed out that C&W Managed UTM provides their clients access to information security management through a team of security experts that have obtained the most recognized credentials and certification of the industry.

Moreover, UTM can be implemented both in the client’s premises and C&W’s Data centers, using either virtual or physical appliances, delivering the same standards and quality of service in any scenario. (TL)
