ICBL donates more to charities thanks to record turnout

The Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited (ICBL) Family Fun Walk & Run which took place on April 28th showed a strong sense of community spirit.

This annual event which sought to assist the Asthma Bay at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Hope Foundation and PAREDOS, attracted an overwhelming 3,709 participates – a 59 per cent increase.

As a result of the response,  the  insurance company was able to increase its donations over last year by $2,500 to each beneficiary. Therefore, the QEH, Hope Foundation and PAREDOS each received a donation of $15,000 to assist with their programmes.

Yesterday, addressing the presentation ceremony for both the beneficiaries and winning participants, Managing Director & CEO of ICBL, Ingrid Innes lauded this year’s event, describing the increased participation as “tremendous.”

“Much of this was made possible by the introduction of corporate packages, which afforded groups of 30 or more the opportunity to have their company name and logo printed on the backs of the shirts. This cost was absorbed by ICBL as our way of giving these groups recognition for their involvement in this charitable initiative,” she disclosed, also noting that 25 groups took up the offer.

“It was an overwhelming and unexpected response,” Innes expressed.

“This is definitely an initiative that we will be expanding upon next year, with a view to giving even more groups the opportunity to have their brand represented on the road.” (TL)
