Honda enjoying growth in B’dos

Since Platinum Motors became the exclusive Honda distributor in Barbados, the brand has enjoyed significant sales growth.

 

Vice - President of the Export Sales Division at Honda America, Vicki Poponi made this disclosure, also noting that it has reached the potential for even more growth.

 

Poponi, who was at the time addressing the Platinum Motors grand opening on Wednesday night, said that when Honda executives met with Chairman of Platinum Motors, Peter Harris back in 2013, they knew he had a vision and a dream for the future of Honda in Barbados.

“But, no one could envision this grand accomplishment in this lovely facility,” she expressed.

 

Platinum Motors now occupies almost the entire block from the traffic lights at the Lakes Folly junction on Fontabelle, to the Harbour Road traffic lights. The relocation has allowed the dealership to have a larger showroom with an adjoining parts division, new collision and repair centre, larger mechanical workshop, improved customer parking and reception areas, and a new set of executive offices.

General Manager of Platinum Motors, Mark Hamilton said that the improved features are all part of the bigger picture for the company to maintain Honda’s reputation as a premium brand in Barbados.

 

“As we continue to move forward and build our business, we are committed to securing our place as a serious player within the local automotive market, whilst never losing sight of our customers’ interests,” he stressed.

 

“To complement our recent infrastructure support works, we are also looking to significantly improve our after-sales and customer service levels, as well as reduce customer costs with more aggressive pricing on parts and service offerings”.

 

Chairman of Platinum Motors, Peter Harris also acknowledged that the decision to move to a new location was just one of a number initiatives aimed at strengthening the company’s competitive advantage and better serving its customers.

 

“We have not only improved our facilities, but we have also set about improving our human resources,” he pointed out.

 

“We now have a great team assembled including customer service personnel, mechanical and collision repair technicians; all led by a dedicated and expanded administrative and management team, and supported by resources from the PVH Group Head Office”. (TL)
