Hillaby/Turner’s Hall Primary added to Tablet Project

Yesterday, founders of the Aron and Christina Foundation, Aron and Christina Truss, presented 56 Samsung Tablets to the class three students of the Hillaby/Turner’s Hall Primary School as part of their Tablet Project.
Since 2009 the Foundation has been ensuring that primary school students have the opportunity to own technology which will assist them with their studies.

“We see the benefits that the device provides our children in both their education and extra-curricular activities and we are very aware that if more children don’t receive these devices, there will be a technology gap between some children who have and those who don’t. Therefore, we hope that by presenting the tablets we can help level the education playing field a bit,” Aron Truss pointed out.

He said that class three’s were selected because they are old enough to handle the responsibility of taking care of them and that it will assist them with preparations for the Common Entrance Exam.

Truss also revealed that the 56 tablets were generously donated by Richard and Marilyn Palarski. He told the students that Mr. Palarski, although not Barbadian, spent some time on the island as a youngster, receiving his secondary education at Harrison College in the 1960’s.

“He has a close connection with Barbados and he does care about the island and that is seen in the gesture to you students.”

Member of Parliament for St. Andrew, George Payne, thanked the Foundation as well as the Palarski’s.

Payne recalled that it was only two weeks ago, during the presentation of tablets to A. Dacosta Edwards Primary School, that he asked Truss to consider adding other St. Andrew Primary School to the tablet project.

“That was only two weeks ago, and he has already added Hillaby/Turner’s Hall Primary School. I would like to commend Aron and Christina Truss for this excellent initiative,” he expressed.

“The Truss made this happen and Mr. Palarski provided the means. Without the combination, that request I made would not be possible.”

Now that Hillaby/Turner’s Hall Primary School has been added to the tablet project, the Foundation will return every academic year to present tablets to the new class three students. (TL)
