Cancer Support Services (CSS) was on hand to share information about their vital range of services.

Health and Financial Fair a big hit

Sandy Lane Resort is ensuring that its dedicated staff can address all dimensions of their wellness, including aspects of their financial health.

The Annual Health & Financial Fair did just that, bringing together 34 organisations and small businesses to the West Coast property’s “Winner’s Walk”, recently.

Staff received free glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure and stress checks, as well as learned about the importance of screening for early detection of diseases.

Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Limited, Lifetime Credit Union, Republic Bank and Scotia Bank offered financial guidance regarding saving, budgeting and loans. Insurance advice was given by representatives from Sagicor and the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited (ICBL). Digicel, Massy and Cave Shepherd introduced their new products and services. Also, several local entrepreneurs were given the opportunity to share their products, which included; natural juices, handmade jewellery, clothing, soaps and more.

Coordinator, Kimberley Hinds told The Barbados Advocate that the fair has been going strong for over ten years.

“Every year the health and financial fair is held to show appreciation for the staff as well as to give back to them,” she expressed.

“We are a 24-hour operation, and we work by shift, so persons who work the afternoon shift wouldn’t have enough time to sometimes to go to the bank, or even get something so simple as a blood pressure check, so we brought those services to them. We are also giving out free blood sugar monitors for any staff member who is diabetic, compliments AA Laquis.” (TL)
