Governor Whitney Williams lauded

 

THE Caribbean Atlantic District Governor of Key Club International, Whitney Williams, has been highly commended for her commitment in seeing her Governor’s Project though from concept to reality. 
 
Williams is the brainchild of the service project, Operation Backpack, where she, through the assistance of Presidents and Key Club members across the District, distributed over 700 backpacks to students of 34 public primary schools and community organisations locally. 
 
Through the project, 700 backpacks were also distributed in July to public primary school students in Guyana and Aruba. Pupils in Trinidad and Tobago, St. Lucia and Guadeloupe are additionally earmarked to benefit from the project. 
 
Delivering the feature address at the People’s Cathedral Church Sanctuary on Friday, Distinguished Kiwanis Lieutenant Governor 2014-2015, Ian Estwick said, “I have been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Bridgetown for the past 27 years and during that time I have witnessed and participated in several dozen community projects always with a single focus of bringing relief to those who are less fortunate, particularly children within our community. I can honestly say however, that for me Operation Backpack tops them all. There is nothing I like better than to see children helping children.”
 
He added, “I speak for all Kiwanis in Division 27 when I say to Governor Whitney how very proud we are of your commitment to this Project and of your achievement. Well done! I also extend our gratitude to the several other Key Clubers here who assisted and continued to assist in this signature Project.”
 
Positive sentiments were also echoed by Caribbean Atlantic District Administrator, Distinguished President, Sophia Chase, who said that, “Operation Backpack is by far the largest ever Governor’s Project undertaken in our District." (MG)
