Focus placed on new CPE Division

The UWI Open Campus will be seeking to bring its recently established Continuing Professional Educational (CPE) Division into the spotlight, to allow persons access to a range of continuing professional educational programmes, that can take them forward in their chosen profession.

Officer-in-Charge of the UWI Open Campus Barbados, Ryan Byer, gave a bit more detail about the CPE Division, as she spoke with The Barbados Advocate, following an Open Day ceremony held yesterday at the UWI Open Campus, located in the Pine St. Michael.

“The Open Campus has recently established its CPE Division, that’s our Continuing Professional Educational Division and what that Division is doing, is developing and offering a range of continuing professional educational programmes. Through these continuing professional educational programmes, persons will be able to gain CEUs, continuing educational units, so this is the new thrust,” Byer stated.

“There will be a number of courses that will be available, when we do our marketing” he added. Byer also noted that the Open Campus is also targetting a wide range of persons, and as such, has tailored its programmes to suit.

“In terms of the online programmes, through collaboration with the Government of Canada, there are new Masters Programmes that are also available.

“So with the Open Campus, you can stay with us from your secondary educational pursuits, through CXC, right through to our range of PhD programmes. We target a wide range of persons who want to
pursue their educational pursuits.

“There will be for example a degree in Management with an emphasis in some specific discipline, such as Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, or Hospitality studies. These are some of the new exciting competitively priced offerings that persons can avail themselves to,” Byer stated. (RSM)
