Darren Watson and Vanessa Seaton hosts of the new, weekly TV show Route 10 starting on CBC TV8, on Thursday, September 15 at 9:03 pm.

Ex-Parish Ambassadors move via Route 10

It may have been their time to give up the sash but Darren Watson and Vanessa Seaton are still proud representatives of the parish of St. Philip.

After carrying the official title of Parish Ambassadors in 2015 the two are now embarking on a new project to further highlight the island’s largest, eastern community.

From Thursday, September 15 at 9:03 pm they will be hosting a weekly, TV show on CBC TV 8 called Route 10, named after the popular Bayfield Route which runs along Highway Five – a main artery into the parish.

Produced by DAMARQ the 13-part series comes in time for the island’s 50th anniversary celebrations and will be shot at several locations in St. Philip including the Crane Resort, the second oldest hotel on the island; the former Carrington Sugar Factory and Three Houses Park, the second public park to be opened in the parish.

The show will also highlight interesting people, businesses, community groups old and new and feature places to dine.

The animated character Scrappy will present actual stories that happened in the parish which were written by Folklorist G. Addinton Forde and author of the recently published The St. Philip Book.

Darren and Vanessa will also be tour guides on the Route 10 Scenic Bus Tours where passengers will be able to see first-hand some of the locations that were featured on the show and in the book.

It must be noted that including Darren and Vanessa the Route 10 project has been executed predominantly by Philippines under the age of 35 including the editor, animator, makeup artist and stylists.

The series and the book will be officially launched at the Crane Resort on Sunday, September 11.
