Education, training both important

Even though the words education and training are sometimes used interchangeably, they are two different things and both are required elements in order to progress.

This is coming from a St. Winifred’s School student; Ajitesh Sharma who was one of the participants for Activate Talk on the education system as it currently stands and how in students’ view they believe it can be better enhanced at the UN House recently.

He said that the educational system that any country has should be for the advancement of a country and its citizens.

“As well as we have these skills well versed, it should be for the betterment of the world, it should be for the betterment of the entire universe and the entire being. Ladies and gentlemen, we are the future. I believe that we are given a brain. That is a fact. The brain had two sides and I believe that we should use those two sides – the right side and the left side.”

As for the users of this educational system, they need to be able to use the brain that all of us have to go beyond learning the traditional academics. They also need to use this brain to among other things know the difference between right and wrong, said Sharma.

“We should be able to balance creativity with rational, we should be able to balance imagination with analysis, we should be able – you know what I am going to say, the most important thing – we should be able to balance the right from the wrong and I am not saying that the education system is wrong. I am not saying anything at all. I for all that I am saying is that we need a slight little change and we are the future, we can change this education system.”

In addition, the youth have a vital role to play in enhancing this educational system where the need may arise, he said.

“Of course as I said there is nothing fundamentally wrong with it, you see we are the citizens of the world…we are the future, we can come up with many different things…ladies and gentlemen, I believe as this topic would say – a real ideal system is one that has good education as well as good training. This is the future.” (PJT)
