Drugs making their way into the incinerator.

Drugs destroyed

THE Royal Barbados Police Force continues to make huge strides in its fight against illegal narcotics when the Force took part in the early morning destruction of these drugs, which held a street value of over $8 550 000.

Speaking to the press during the exercise, Acting Station Superintendent, Peter Gibson, noted that the quantity being destroyed yesterday was acquired from various closed cases from around the island.

“We are burning drugs this morning, which came from our various divisions from around the island. Cases from Black Rock, District ‘F’, Hastings and others had cases that were adjudicated and their drugs brought here to be burned this morning,” Gibson said.

Drugs burnt yesterday in the incinerator, included mostly cannabis and cocaine, which both carried a high street value in their bulk forms.

“Today we burned around 140 kilograms of cannabis worth around $550 000 and 161.4 kilograms of cocaine worth over $8 000 000,” he shared.

According to the Station Superintendent (Ag.), the Force has been doing well so far for the year, in its fight against the farming and importation of these illegal substances.

“We have be doing well in this area. Some of the cases involved drugs that came through the post offices, and from plots around the island.”
