Minister Rev. Dr. Marcelle Brathwaite reads a prayer during service at the Dalkeith Methodist Church yesterday.

Do the right thing!

We all can make the effort to do what is right.

This was the message given by Reverend Dr. Marcelle Brathwaite of the Dalkeith Methodist Church during the church service yesterday.

In the presence of the St. Michael Parish Ambassadors and the Parish Independence Committee (PIC) and the congregation, the minister said that despite what is happening in our lives, we can all make the effort.

“If we really trust God, if we really understand who He is, then we will make the effort to do what is right, to make sure that justice happens, to make sure we pay our bills, to make sure that all is necessary for us is done!” said Rev. Dr. Brathwaite.

Referring to the scripture and the story of Zacchaeus, Rev. Dr. Brathwaite said it does not matter what we are battling with, it is important to have faith that everything will be all right.

She stressed that as Christians, people are called to love their God and their neighbours like themselves and not overlook what is happening in our communities. She added it was critical that we allow ourselves to become a part of what is happening like the St. Michael Parish Ambassadors who are involved in the community.

The Reverend said that the church must support each other and get on the outside and support those who need help.

“(This) can only happen when we make sure that we have the right attitude and when we stop judging people,” said Rev. Dr. Brathwaite.
