Dining at The Cliff: A well sought-after culinary experience

 

The Cliff Restaurant has now reached a status where visitors are simply coming to the island for the long sought after culinary experience to be found at this world renown, upmarket restaurant, located at Derricks, St. James.
 
Executive General Manager of The Cliff Restaurant, Peter Harris, acknowledged the above recently, as news came that Barbados had received five nominations in USA Today’s annual travel expert poll. In the Best Restaurant in the Caribbean category, The Cliff Restaurant now sits at number four out of 20 on the leader-board.
 
“It’s become something of an icon,” Harris stated. “People come to Barbados and when they visit, they say, ‘we were told one of the things we have to do… we have to go to The Cliff’, and we are very proud of that fact,” Harris further remarked.
 
He meanwhile, acknowledged that many visitors to the island also seek out a number of noted local tourist attractions, but on the culinary side, he said, The Cliff adds to the overall visitor experience.
 
He had high praise for staff of The Cliff Restaurant, noting that they are the ones who interact in a positive way with the guests and who help to provide that familial experience that visitors seem to love.
 
“We have staff who have been there from the beginning. We have guests who come and request [particular] staff to serve them and who invite [staff members] back to their homes abroad. They [have] such a great impression of Barbados and the people of Barbados,” Harris said.
 
“So we are one big family looking after all of our visitors,” he said of the acclaimed restaurant which is celebrating 22 years of existence this month. (RSM)
