Digicel rewards top Common Entrance students

DIGICEL Barbados has recognised and rewarded the top and most improved students in this year’s 11- Plus Examination.

Yesterday, Top Boy Javon Linton of Blackman and Gollop Primary who will be proceeding to Queen’s College, and Top Girl Tishani Jordan of Christ Church Girls, who will also be entering first form at Queen’s College from September, were awarded with tablets, vouchers and other prizes.

Most improved student of Blackman and Gollop Primary Ethan Small who is moving on The St Michael School and most improved student of Christ Church Girls Vanessa Wiggins, were also awarded by Digicel for their hard work and determination to succeed.

Digicel’s Top Student Joshua Carter who will also be attending Queen’s College in September was also rewarded for his success.

In congratulating the students on their accomplishments, Digicel’s Core Network Manager Dwight Grannum noted that in this modern age, students use technology daily for research, analysis and presentations.

He mentioned that adults often realize how quickly children learn to use gadgets and applications, especially Google and social media.

“As such, it is a natural progression and being able to critically analyse the information sourced is the next step. It is important to take the work of experts into consideration in new applications and ideas.

“I therefore encourage you to use technology to maximise your productivity as this is critical to your future success. As Digicel continues to stay at the forefront of the technology that drives our business, we will make information more accessible to you,” Grannum said. (AH)
