Digicel launches 2017 Independence promotion

Digicel Barbados will be celebrating the island’s 51st Anniversary of Independence with a series of initiatives, which are all designed to reward customers as they participate in the company’s 2017 Independence promotion.

Director of Consumer Sales & Service, Dionne Emtage, outlined the initiatives that will form part of the Digicel Barbados 2017 Independence Promotion, during a launch held at the company’s newly renovated store in the Colonnade Mall, Bridgetown, St. Michael yesterday.

“As a proud corporate citizen of Barbados, Digicel is celebrating the 51st Anniversary of our Independence in typical Digicel style, during the month of November. We will mark this occasion with a series of initiatives under the theme, ‘Freedom For You’, which will give customers specials on Post-paid and Prepaid Plans, Handsets, Top Ups and Digicel Home services. This promotion, which started this week, concludes in fun fashion with our ‘Treasures of Barbados’ Treasure Hunt on Independence day, November 30, 2017,” Emtage announced.

To qualify, she said, customers simply need to Top Up up to Bds$51 between November 24 and November 30. They will also automatically receive $51 in bonus credit for Digi to Digi calls, which will be valid for 15 days. They can also activate the 30-day Quick Pick plan with anywhere minutes via the MyDigicel App only, for the promotional price of $51. The standard price is usually BDS$75. Customers can also activate any Freedom Post-paid Plan and get a $51 discount off the standard retail price of the Samsung J1, with a one-year contract.

Plus, when customers pay their first three months’ subscription bill on time and in full, they will receive $51 off the fourth month. It was also noted that Digicel Home Customers (existing as well as those who sign up for a Digicel Home package this month) can also receive a Refer-a-Friend voucher. Once a referred friend signs up, the referring party receives $50 off their next bill, after their referred friend is installed.

Emtage meanwhile noted that for the fun aspect, Digicel will be hosting the Treasure Hunt via the MyDigicel App, which will give a lucky customer the chance to win $5 100 in cash and loads of other exciting prizes, which will be up for grabs.

“So, what is it all about? We will have 11 clues related to stop-points in all 11 parishes on the island. Customers need to activate one of our 3/7/30-day anywhere Quick Pick plans. They will receive a SMS which will point them to a registration page. Customers then just need to register for the exciting Treasure Hunt, via the MyDigicel App,” she explained.

“Clues will be distributed on the day of hunt. At each location, the team lead will receive a token and they will be asked to take selfie at each location. The first person or Team with all of the tokens to reach the finish point, will be declared the winner. If any two persons or Teams reach the final location together, a tie-breaking exercise will be completed to determine the final winner. It’s as simple as that,” Emtage declared.

All of the details about Digicel’s Independence offers and the Treasure Hunt can be found on the company’s website – DigicelBarbados.com and on its Social Media pages as well. (RSM)
