Clevedale Road is one of the most dangerous streets in the Black Rock Community some have said with large trucks and buses along with drag racers, inconsiderate drivers and cyclists using the road as their own race track.

Danger road

Residents in a St. Michael area take great risk everyday when walking along the stretch of Clevedale Road. Speeding, inconsiderate drivers are to blame especially when they drive on the road at night and on public holidays.

Black Rock which is known for several serious and deadly accidents over the years, still does not have adequate lighting in some areas and signage on others. Clevedale Road connects to Fairfield Road and drag racers, cyclists and in some cases large commercial trucks use the road as their personal race track some have said, ignoring important stop signs and pedestrians traveling along this road.

The Barbados Advocate was told by an injured road accident victim (who requested anonymity ) that on January 1, 2019 a little before ten an unidentified vehicle speeding along Clevedale Road made contact with them while they were on foot, which resulted in the individual falling and injuring their face and leg.

Unlike Yearwood Road which has several humps, Clevedale continues to be free of devices which could slow down hasty drivers and give pedestrians a better opportunity to respond to the actions of reckless individuals.
