Children enjoy adventurous day hosted by Sagicor

The Month of May is celebrated as “Child Month” in Barbados, and included as part of the activities marking the occasion, several children and parents enjoyed a fun-filled and exciting day last Saturday, as Sagicor Life insurance company hosted a special day for families.

The land and sea adventure, which featured a trek from the City to rural parts of the island, brought together insurance executives, parents and children in a relaxed environment which also facilitated teaching moments and learning among the island’s future leaders.

After boarding a coach at Sagicor’s Collymore Rock office, participants made their first stop at Atlantis Submarine in the City, for a morning dive on the island’s west coast, and then experienced a breathtaking tour of Harrison’s Cave in St. Thomas. They later took lunch and participated in a treasure hunt at the historic Farley Hill National Park in St. Peter.

Banker Sabrina Forde-Ifill, one of several parents who took time out for the day of activities, lauded the management and staff of Sagicor Life for creating a remarkable and exciting experience. “It was very family-oriented and provided pleasant interaction with staff and customers in a nice environment. It was unuique,” she said.

Based on their questions, comments and interactions with tour guides and other adults, the children, between the ages of four and 14, fully enjoyed the learning experience and took away knowledge and loads of photos to share on their mobile devices.

“Giving back to the communities in which we operate is part of the mandate of Sagicor and we intend to engage more with families. Children are the future of our country and we are also working with schools, in our Adopt-A-School programme, to assist in the development of our future leaders and adult citizens,” said Raoul Williams, Sagicor’s Vice-President of Insurance Operations.

Williams also disclosed that hosting the day was one element of their ongoing Customer Loyalty programme, and that in coming weeks more activities will be hosted for members of the Sagicor family, celebrating Fathers Day and other important milestones connecting customers and staff.
