Child Care Board introducing Good Deeds Wednesday Project to mark Child Month

DURING the month of May, the Child Care Board will be launching a Good Deeds Wednesday Project.

This initiative, according to Minister of Social Care, the Hon. Steven Blackett, will encourage children in every school and community to engage in a good deed on Wednesdays for someone else from now until Independence Day 2016.

“This activity will have an exponential positive impact, as Barbados has approximately 65.4 thousand children. It is anticipated that the initiative will resonate with adults, and they too will come on board and do something positive within their spheres, either at work, play or generally within their community.”

Addressing the recent Opening Gala for Child Month 2016 at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, the Minister also revealed that the Board will provide opportunities on a weekly basis for parents of children attending the fifteen (15) Government Day Nurseries and the community in the various catchment areas, to visit the Day Nurseries and observe the work of their children and the special programme that will unfold during the morning period.

“Children constitute one of our greatest assets. A nation prospers, or progresses, to the extent that it is able to develop the hidden potential lying untapped within its children,” he expressed. (TL)
