Carib Rehab Ltd. makes donation to QEH

THE Stroke Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) will benefit from a donation of two recliner chairs and 10 urinals made by Carib Rehab Ltd.

Yesterday, Managing Director of Carib Rehab Ltd., Hilary Bethell, presented the items to Consultant Neurologist, Professor David Corbin, in the Unit located on Ward C10.

Bethell said that the two recliner chairs will not only be comfortable for patients but will aid their rehabilitation, whereas the detachable trays can assist in self-feeding and serve as arm support and exercise surfaces during Occupational Therapy.

She also noted that the donation of urinals – five male and five female – are for patients who are still on bed rest or who cannot walk to the bathroom.

“The ideas for this donation originated through a discussion I had some time ago with Professor Corbin, concerning the needs of the Stroke Unit. Carib Rehab Ltd. has had a long and happy association with Professor Corbin and his Neurology Team over the years and we hope to continue this relationship.

“We are particularly pleased to give these items to the Stroke Unit of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as part of our corporate contribution to Barbados’ 50th Anniversary celebrations,” Bethell expressed.

Professor Corbin thanked the management of Carib Rehab Ltd. for assisting the Stroke Unit, which started functioning in August 2014.

“We manage the patients in a multidisciplinary way. In other words it is not only about diagnosis, it is also about recovery. Therefore, your donation is very useful in making the recovery period as smooth as possible and efficient as possible… We hope this partnership continues because it will be to the benefit of many stroke patients.” (TL)
