Barbados passport ranks most powerful

 

Barbados’ passport has been rated as the most powerful in the Caribbean and the 50th most powerful in the world.
 
According to passportindex.org, this country’s passport has a power rank of 21 globally out of the 199 countries surveyed, as holders are allowed to travel to 132 countries without having to get a visa before departure.
 
The index, which is updated annually, outlines the number of visa-free regions and countries each nation’s passport can access and includes those ports of call that are completely visa-free and those which require a visa on arrival.
 
The second most powerful in the region is The Bahamas, allowing visa-free travel to 129 countries and holding a rank of 53rd in the world, followed by Antigua and Barbuda, which allows visa-free travel to 124 countries and is ranked 54th in the world.
 
Ranking fourth in the Caribbean is St. Kitts and Nevis at 57th in the world, followed by Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with world rankings of 59th, 61st and 62nd respectively.
 
St. Lucia ranked 66th in the world, followed by Grenada, Dominica and Honduras, which took the 70th, 72nd and 76th places.
 
Further down the list were Belize, Jamaica, Guyana and Suriname with a world ranking of 97th, 100th, 103rd and 109th respectively.
 
Cuba, The Dominican Republic and Haiti brought up the rear, with world rankings of 128th, 149th and 150th.
 
Globally, holders of Germany’s passport can travel to 158 countries around the world without having to get a visa before departure, making it the most powerful in the world; while Afghanistan’s was ranked the least powerful passport out of 199 countries, allowing its nationals to travel to a mere 23 countries and regions without having to obtain a visa beforehand. (JMB)
