The popular Browne’s Beach continues to be a staple in Barbadian life on weekends and public holidays.

Bajans flock to beaches for Kadooment

Despite not having our customary Kadooment Day climax to what would have been Crop Over 2020, Barbadians still made the most of the public holiday afforded them yesterday. With many either missing out on seeing the spectacle or partaking in the procession from the National Stadium to the Mighty Grynner Highway, Barbadians, being the resilient people that they are, found several alternatives to the traditional annual ‘jump up’.

From St. Lucy in the North to St. Philip in the South thousands flocked to popular beaches and picnic spots to take in the scenery as partly cloudy skies accompanied the heated weather which graced the island yesterday. There were also many limes organised at several bars across the island, while one or two promoters took the opportunity to host events such as ‘Tabanca’ which took place at Harbour Lights on Bay Street.

One of the biggest highlights of the day was the amount of persons who took it upon themselves to host their own Kadooment Days. Several persons took to the streets of their neighbourhoods and in one case, on the Mighty Grynner Highway to enjoy themselves in lieu of the biggest party in Barbados.
