Armstrong Agencies pledges support to Roving Response Team

Armstrong Agencies Ltd is pledging to offer continuous support to a non-profit organisation which plays a critical role in rescuing lives during natural disasters and events.

Armstrong Agencies launched their 2017 Hurricane Season yesterday, by teaming up with the Roving Response Team. The company donated headlamps with replaceable batteries, flashlights and shirts, to all 45 members of the Team.

Bruce Lambert of Armstrong Agencies told the media that the business saw it fitting as its social responsibility to lend a helping hand to the voluntary team. Speaking at the Agencies’ Lower Estate, St Michael headquarters, Lambert said while the Hurricane Season only lasted six months, that the members of the Team work and are on standby throughout the year.

“We will do this annually, as long as we can keep it going. We have asked other business organisations to take a little time to look at what they do as volunteers.

“Things that they have to buy, they pull from their own pockets. I think that we are our brother’s keeper and they are there for us. We don’t know when they will be assisting one of our family members or us,” Lambert said.

Meanwhile, President of the Roving Response Team Clive Lorde, indicated that the team was extremely grateful to Armstrong Agencies, especially for the donation of the headlights which the volunteers will use on their caps. Lorde also explained that most of the funds to carry out the Team’s work come out of the members’ pockets, in addition to donations from other entities and a subvention from Government.

“This is an aspect of our involvement with corporate Barbados. This is a very useful one and certainly will be of use during Rally Barbados this coming weekend, particularly Friday night and Saturday,” Lorde said.

Armstrong Agencies will also be sponsoring a 7:15 a.m. Energizer Skywatch every Tuesday and Thursday on VOB for the duration of the Hurricane Season. The company will also be providing the public with an Energizer Hurricane map and tips to weather the storm. (AH)
