‘Paint for the Cure’ to raise funds for cancer

Fifty aspiring artists will “Paint for the Cure” come this weekend when a unique cancer fundraiser takes place at the Bougainvillea Beach Resort.

The Walk Managers for the Barbados leg of the fifth annual Walk for the Cure have found another way of raising funds for this worthwhile cause as they prepare for the 2016 Walk. The idea came from CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk Committee member, Shernelle Byer, and the group is partnering with renowned Paint and Groove artist Yasmin Vizcarrondo to host the event called  “Paint for the Cure Barbados” to raise funds for the cause.

Patrons to this elegant affair, which takes place on Saturday September 3, will be invited to paint a picture as part of the evening’s activities guided by Vizcarrondo.

The painting is a pink ribbon and a butterfly, the symbol of resurrection, hope, joy and new beginnings.

Each painting will then be copied poster size, by sponsor Cot Printery and later placed on display at the Massy Stores, Digicel and CIBC FirstCaribbean locations.

A number of the sponsors for this special event recently got together with representatives from CIBC FirstCaribbean and the Barbados Cancer Society Breast Screening Programme at Bougainvillea Beach Resort, to offer their support for the event.

The canvases will be supplied by Laurie Dash – the Craft Shop, while patrons will sip wine compliments of Stansfeld Scott during the evening. They will also be able to enjoy refreshments provided by the Bougainvillea Resort; nibble on desserts from Dainty246; and pink ribbon cookies from Sugar and Spice Custom Cakes, while listening to the soothing music of Gerald B Sounds. Champers Restaurant has provided a door prize of lunch for two.

Digicel has also come on board and will assist with the purchase of the materials.

Marketing Executive, Jermaine Shepherd, proudly announced that Digicel will also be fielding a team for the Walk itself which takes place on October 2, 2016.

It promises to be a fun-filled, creative evening and interested persons can contact the Walk Manager at CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank – Krystle Maynard or the Office Manager at the Breast Screening Programme – Monique Hinds.
