‘EMBRACE THE POSITIVE’

Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ronald Jones, encouraged the students of the St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School to embrace the positive initiatives that are being made available to them.

Jones’ comments came yesterday morning during the launch of The Power of Choice Initiative, which was held at the school. He said that there is a concern that some of the boys in schools are not “buckling down to produce the best work that they possibly could”, noting that he believed this is because they are being persuaded negatively by others.

The Power of Choice is one such initiative that Jones believes they should readily embrace because it promotes the power of positive thoughts and thinking, which then leads to positive actions. He expressed that he was proud to see the various slogans that capture the thought of having great attitudes and behaviours.

“I’m encouraging you, future young men of this nation, to be receptive to the Power of Choice,” the minister said.

He added that he was pleased to see the use of technology being incorporated with the initiative, where screens will also be displaying the various positive slogans. He noted that these screens will be constantly alternating between several different phrases, and at least one of them should be remembered by the students.

Jones said that this was a small step in a dynamic wave that could change the nation, exponentially spreading across the island, once the children, the future of the nation, learned to control their actions and to have more positive thoughts.

He added that the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation supported the initiative and was proud to see another positive initiative being launched in the schools.

“It is really my pleasure to be associated with activities like this, which seek to promote the best possible enhancement of the qualities of human beings and Power of Choice brings squarely to all of us,” he said.
