Tea Time Blue Vanilla earmarked for export

Barbadians living abroad have been craving Tea Time Blue Vanilla and plans are afoot by the West India Biscuit Company (WIBISCO) Limited to satisfy this desire.

Export Manager at WIBSCO, Lisa Murray said the company’s latest product will be exported to New York this month. It has two yellow shells and a blue cream filling highlighting two of Barbados’ national colours and was “developed specifically to celebrate Barbados’ 50th year of Independence”.

“That product has been available here since August and we have had many requests on our social media and emails coming into the company from Barbadians living outside of Barbados and I am happy to say that Tea Time Blue Vanilla will be available in some key locations in New York during this month.”

Murray added, “We were happy to be able to respond to that request. Our distributors there will make sure that persons who shop in the Caribbean stores will have that product available so that though not here in Barbados, they can have a little bit of the Barbadian product to share [and] to celebrate Barbados’ 50th anniversary there in the US.”

The Export Manager was speaking to the media on the sidelines of Friday’s Eat Bajan Day at the Wesley Hall Infants School. On this occasion, the company made a presentation to the school as well as provided pupils with samples of the Tea Time Blue Vanilla.

Speaking about the response by Barbadians to the new type of cookie, Murray said it has been “phenomenal”.

“Persons, whenever we have an innovation, particularly with Tea Time, persons purchase the existing product as well as new product and that product has been particularly successful.”

She continued, “really, this is a seasonal product that we have just to celebrate Barbados 50th year of Independence. However, we are not opposed to doing it for future Independence celebrations.”
