Sagicor Life Insurance recognises 95-year-old father
One of the island’s oldest and better known fathers is enjoying a special week and looking forward to his 96th birthday.
St. Michael resident Astor. B. Watts, now 95, was recognised as an outstanding father and long-serving customer last weekend during activities which coincided with Father’s Day celebrations.
Watts was visited at his residence by Executives of Sagicor Life Insurance, who presented him with special Father’s Day treats as well as recognition gifts for 44 years of being a customer with the company.
“I truly appreciate the gesture and I am happy that they came to see me. I took out a policy with the Barbados Mutual back in the 1970s and I always believed that insurance is a good stepping stone for security in life,” said Watts, who is still very coherent and articulate.
Sagicor Life is the successor to The Barbados Mutual and Vice-President of Insurance Operations, Raoul Williams said they were happy to visit and present such gifts to Watts, who was a special and highly valued member of the Sagicor family.
“We wanted to congratulate Mr. Watts for being the oldest father in the Sagicor Family and for being one of our longest-serving policyholders. We also wished him many more years of good health and pray that he reaches the milestone of 100 years so that we can further celebrate with him,” said Williams.
Watts, who turns 96 in April next year and is often heard discussing social issues on radio call-in programmes, thanked the Sagicor executives for the visit and gifts and engaged them in lively conversation while often telling stories of his interesting life-journey.
