DIGICEL Business, Digicel Play, Promotech partner to assist Nightengale Home

DIGICEL Business, Digicel Play and corporate partner Promotech Business Solutions recently worked together to place smiles on the faces of the children at Nightengale Children’s Home.

The initiative saw the home receiving state-of-the-art television sets along with a free Digicel Play TV service. Additionally, the facility is now powered by Digicel with Dedicated Internet, Campus Network and Fixed line services to help improve operations, as well as provide reliable Internet accessibility for the children to assist with research for school projects.

A special movie night hosted by Digicel and Promotech, complete with pizza, popcorn, face-painting and juggling, among other treats, was the order of the day recently, as the children at the home got the opportunity to test out the new equipment and services.

General Manager of Digicel Business Solutions, Martin Keogh said, “It is a sign of the times we live in that we sometimes need reminding of the privilege and blessings we have in our lives. A visit to the Nightengale facility touched us all and we were determined to step in and play a part in making the lives of the children – and indeed the staff – more enjoyable.

“It was wonderful to see the children’s excitement at the movie night and to be able to leave behind the televisions and great array of entertainment channels for them to enjoy. Additionally, it is great to be able to extend our relationship with Promotech to
another level with a Corporate Social Responsible project such as this.”

Steven Williams, Promotech’s Corporate Sales Manager was pleased with his company’s involvement stating, “With youth development as our pivotal focus, Promotech, through its relationship with Digicel, continues to support youth initiatives.”

Joan Crawford, Director of the Child Care Board praised the initiative and said, “The children are thoroughly enjoying the service. It is a real blessing. Therefore, on behalf of the Child Care Board, members of staff and children of the Nightengale Complex,
I want to thank Digicel and Promotech for their assistance and support for the home.”

The Nightengale complex currently has 79 children ranging in ages from months old to eleven years. These children were assessed as being in need of care and protection as they encountered issues such as neglect, other forms of abuse, or their families are unable to adequately care for them. In addition, some of the residents have varying levels of disabilities.
