Business Monday: Sea Breeze Hotel awards exemplary staff

A man with a record of saving lives has been named “Employee of the Year” for 2015 at the Sea Breeze Hotel.

Junior Grant, a 37 year-old Watersports Attendant at the Maxwell, Christ Church property, took the award during the hotel's recent awards night, and was highly commended by his superiors.

Grant is a trained lifeguard, who has been employed at the hotel for the past 15 months, and apart from the efficient performance of his duties in the pool, beach and watersports areas, he holds the distinction of rescuing two visitors from drowning over the period.

“I am happy to win the award... my job is about service to people, and I enjoy it,” said Grant, a St. Joseph resident.

More than 25 awards were presented on the night, as the all-inclusive property staged its annual awards ceremony to recognise and award outstanding employees of the past year.

Among other things, employees were recognised for honesty, going the extra mile, sporting achievements and maintaining good service standards.

Also among those copping outstanding performance awards were Chef Ron Maynard, who was voted Manager Of The Year and Leon Medford, Supervisor Of the Year, while Kathy Rowe and Carlos Alleyne were presented with honesty awards.

Johnathan Taylor, Sade Clarke, Kathy Rowe, Charles Hall and Andrea Griffith were all recognised for the important element of service excellence.

General Manager of the four-star all-inclusive hotel, Faye Best, praised staff for their contribution to the encouraging performance of the property over the past year, in a highly competitive environment.

“Last year was a relatively good year for us at Sea Breeze, with our occupancies  showing an increase of 6.5 per cent over the previous year. This is all attributed to our marketing strategies and the exemplary performances of our Team, who continue to offer high standards of service,” said Best.

Sea Breeze attracts mainly couples and families from the British and European market, with a smaller percentage of its occupancies from North America and the Caribbean.

The hotel boasts 78 rooms and a staff complement of 170 persons, and is one of three properties in the Ocean Hotels Group, which also includes South Beach and Ocean Two Resort.
