BCIC extends a $700 000 helping hand to customers

British Caribbean Insurance Company Ltd. (BCIC) has announced that they are returning over $730 000 in insurance premiums to their customers. As the government curfew and other measures intended to stop the spread of COVID-19 affects the lives and livelihoods of many Barbadians, the measures also mean fewer accidents. BCIC is automatically refunding part of their private motor, Public Service Vehicle (PSV) and Diamond Max (a special policy for drivers over the age of 50) customers’ premiums for the month of April.

BCIC is also extending a helping hand to those customers negatively impacted directly by the pandemic. The company extended payment dates, waived late fees and empowered their employees to work with each customer on a case-by-case basis to provide personalised support. They are encouraging anyone affected by COVID-19 to reach out to the company directly if they need assistance.

Managing Director Peter Levy has made his commitment to do everything he can to help and is hopeful for the region’s future, “We have conducted a full impact assessment and expect some fall out from COVID-19 on our industry and certainly the region. BCIC’s already strong balance sheet puts us in the best possible shape to confront these challenges and not just survive, but ultimately thrive. We think the same will ultimately be true for Barbados and the region as a whole.”

BCIC’s Manor Lodge branch reopened on May 6 in full compliance with the government’s orders. They are operating with only the team members needed to serve walk-in customers for New Business and Payment transactions only. To protect those team members and customers, BCIC is maintaining physical distancing, along with frequent sanitisation, especially in any high traffic areas.

The company strongly encourages its customers who can access their services online to please do so at bciconline.com. Services like quotes and claims can all be done with the click of a
