‘Open for business’

Prime Minister of Barbados, the Hon. Mia Amor Mottley has reiterated that Barbados is open for business and The Estates at St George Adult Active Lifestyle Community, which incorporates medical services, is testament to this.

In her address at The Estates at St George Sod Turning Ceremony at Boarded Hall, St George recently, she highlighted, “Barbados is not only open for business, but what we want is to create a development model and investment model that makes sense for each and everyone. Barbados is here to tell Sagicor and everyone else that we want to work with you. We are open for business. Barbados as a hub for medical and health services is our future. I commend Sagicor for choosing Barbados, because we know you could have gone anywhere, and we will continue to work with you as a nation.

“This project represents a perfect confluence of what Barbados’ immediate future has to be about. When we said in our manifesto that this country must be a hub for education and medical services and most people didn’t get it, it is only in the last few months that people are beginning to understand what I mean. Ross University being here is not by accident, but it brings to Barbados a combination of those two services – education and medical. Barbadians by their determination as to what they value have always placed an emphasis on medicine, health and education. The unique advantages that we have, such as climate, have allowed is to be viewed as that place that persons can have a therapeutic experience, almost across the entire island because of the North East Tradewinds.”

The Prime Minister stated, “I am happy therefore that Sagicor has taken a decision to lead in this area because this is part and parcel of what artificial intelligence cannot replace. This is the essence of who we are and what we can offer as a people by being able to create the surroundings in which people can live comfortably…” (NB)
