LIME Under-15 tournament reaches semi-final stage


Defending champion Nicholls Baking Combermere is through Monday’s semi-finals of the Barbados Cricket Association LIME Under-15 Cricket tournament.
In its final game of the round robin component of the tournament, Combermere drew with Christ Church Foundation, but had earlier won first innings points. Foundation batted first and made 89 all out, while Combermere replied with 200-7 off 35 overs. Reniko Layne struck and unbeaten 66, while S. Marshall scored 34. Foundation made 159-8 in its second innings.

Combermere finished second in Zone ‘A’ and will now face St. Leonard’s Boys’ in the semi-finals on Monday at Waterford. St. Leonard’s topped Zone ‘B’ with 35 points with Graydon Sealy second with 23 points.

Taking the top spot in Zone ‘A’ was Alexandra who ended the round robin competition unbeaten. Alexandra recorded its sixth successive victory when it defeated Deighton Griffith by ten wickets. Deighton Griffith batted first and made 68 all out, while Alexandra replied with 126-1. In the second innings, Deighton Griffith again fell for 68, leaving Alexandra to get 13 runs for the outright victory.

Alexandra will oppose Queen’s College at Queen’s Street after the later topped Zone ‘C’. Queen’s College and St. Michael School ended the round robin competition with 23 points each, but Queen’s College was given the nod as it had a superior net run rate of 2.295 in comparison to the 1.311 of St. Michael’s.
