Action-packed tennis championships

Teenaged sensation Andrew Symmonds has advanced to two finals of the 2012 Esso Junior Tennis Championships, currently being played at the National Tennis Centre in Wildey.
In the Boys’ Under-16 Division, Symmonds booked his place in the tournament showpiece with a comprehensive 6-2, 6-0 victory over No. 6 seed Matthew Estwick. He
will face No. 4 seed Ajani King who advanced by defeating No. 2 seed Simon Lewis 6-2, 7-5.
In the race for the Boys’ Under-14 title, Symmonds will oppose No. 2 seed Xavier Lawrence in the final after he disposed of Romani Mayers 6-0, 6-1. Lawrence defeated Gabriel Taylor 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 on the other side of the draw.
Simon Lewis bounced back from his Under-14 semi-final loss to Ajani King to book his place in the Under-18 final with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Matthew Estwick. Lewis
will go up against Gavin Hutchinson who defeated No. 1 seed Ajani King 6-2, 7-5.
Amongst the Girls, No. 1 seed Kiana Marshall claimed the Under-18 title with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph over Cherise Slocombe.
Slocombe rebounded to take the Under-16 crown with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Ilana Blackwood.
In keeping with the pattern, Blackwood claimed the Under-14 title with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Jaime Lewis.
