A Deputy Principal has now been appointed to the Alma Parris Memorial Secondary School. He is Captain Andrew Skeete whose appointment took effect from Saturday, February 1.

Mr. Skeete, a former education officer, received his letter of appointment today at the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael.

Also receiving appointment letters were three principals and two senior teachers assigned to the primary school system, as well as 15 education officers with various responsibilities that include nursery/primary; secondary; curriculum and examinations/assessments.

Acting Chief Education Officer, Karen Best, in congratulating the new appointees said she welcomed the appointment of persons in the education arena and described the occasion as part of “a very exciting time in education”.

Stressing that there were more interesting times ahead, she added: “The work you have done was extremely important. You have a lot more work to do, especially in the secondary schools, and we have to look at more initiatives in the primary schools.”

Mrs. Best also noted that the Ministry would now be looking at filling appointments for teachers, at the primary level.
