Tropical wave passes over Barbados
7/28/2010
A HEAVY downpour drenched the island yesterday as a tropical wave made its
way across Barbados and the southern Caribbean.
Meteorologist, Clem Williams, told the Barbados Advocate that from radar imagery, it appears as though showers were islandwide, even though the rainfall might have been heavier in some areas than in others.
He predicts that those conditions are expected to gradually clear up early today, but cautioned that these improved conditions are not expected to last long.
According to Williams, “We have a couple other waves that will be moving in shortly. There is another feature that is not too far away that we expect is going to be moving in around Thursday.”
Yesterday, the Grantley Adams International Airport recorded 9.8 mm of rainfall up to 2 p.m., while the station at Gold Ridge in St. George recorded 12 mm up to the same time. (JH)
