Alfred Pragnell remembered

ALFRED Pragnell, referred to as the brains behind the Holetown Festival, was paid tribute to during an exhibition featuring his life’s accomplishments at the Holetown Library last week, as part of the festival’s activities.

On Saturday his brother, niece, nephews, great nephews and friends visited the exhibition remembering and also gaining some new knowledge about the man of many talents.

Affectionately known as AP, a broadcaster extraordinaire, an actor, calypsonian and a storyteller was remembered for his Barbadian and Caribbean dialect short story readings, and also his witty and hilarious ‘Proper Pork’ Carlton supermarket commercials, among countless others.

Longing to celebrate the anniversary of the settlement at Holetown in 1976, Pragnell worked tirelessly for the festival, working himself to the limit in order to ensure that the festival not only had continuity, but growth and development.

Agreeing that the exhibition was a fantastic tribute to Pragnell, his nephew Michael Ramsay noted that the library is doing a very good job of keeping alive the memory of Pragnell and it shows the variations and accomplishments in his life also reflecting on what he has done for Barbados over the years.
