B’dos continues to gain celebrity exposure with CHUM FM

3/12/2010

The Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) is following through with its promise to work closely with the island’s many home-bred international artistes.

Through its partnership with CHUM FM, the BTA is pleased to announce that Capital Record’s recording artiste and Barbadian contemporary pop music singer/ songwriter, Jaicko, will be the opening act for the upcoming 25th annual Breakfast in Barbados promotion, which will take place April 19 through 23, 2010.

This year’s concert, which will take place on Thursday April 22, 2010 at Holders House, will showcase the record-breaking group, New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) and the highly popular Canadian band, Barenaked Ladies.

These acts will be added to the concert’s already impressive entertainment résumé, which includes, to name a few, Nelly Furtado, American Idol alumnus Kelly Clarkson and, Katy Perry, also of Capitol Records.

The CHUM FM concert continues to add to the growing number of international performances and celebrity exposure for the island, which so far for 2010 has seen music legends such as Smokey Robinson, and modern recording wonders
including Babyface and Robin Thicke during the recently concluded Barbados Jazz
Festival, while the ever sensational Fantasia took the island by storm at the Barbados Music Awards in January.

Along with the star-studded concert line-up, additional exposure will be given to the event through broadcasts on seven CHUM radio stations across Canada.

Loretta Tate, Promotions & Marketing Director, 104.5 CHUM FM Toronto, spoke enthusiastically about the upcoming promotion. “Over the past 25 years, CHUM FM’s Breakfast in Barbados promotion has grown into a cornerstone programme Canadians look forward to each year,” she said.

“Its success is due in large part to the support of the Barbados Tourism Authority, Harbour Lights and especially the host properties that go out of their way to make our winners feel welcome. It’s no wonder many return year after year, bringing family and friends. And then, of course, the hospitality the people of Barbados show us is an integral part of the programme’s success. We cannot wait to celebrate our 25th anniversary this year!”

More than 180 people, including radio crew and promotional prize winners, have already confirmed their visit, while numerous fans of the promotion have begun to contact participating hotels to secure their accommodation.

The highly successful promotional partnership between the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) and CHUM FM, Canada’s #1 radio morning show, continues to raise the profile for Barbados as a preferred destination in the Canadian market.
