Sol’s CEO, Gerard Cox stated the company has been focusing on improving the performance of the business and despite the economic downturn, Sol (Barbados) Limited has continued its growth from over the last five years.

In stating this, Sol’s CEO, Gerard Cox said that the company has been focusing on improving the performance of its operations.

Cox expressed optimism of the performance of Sol in Barbados and the introduction of the new service station. He explained that in Barbados, Sol was formed in 2005 through the acquisition of businesses owned at the time by Shell. “Over the last five years we have focused on improving the performance of the business, we have made inroads into the commercial and lubricant segment and optimised our retail network”, he pointed out.

“We are determined to improve our service levels and we have made strategic investments, such as the development of this new Shell Station in Mile & A Quarter, St .Peter”, he further stated.

Sol Group, the fuel conglomerate, which has been steadily expanding in the Caribbean, is poised for further growth this year. “There are plans to expand when there are feasible opportunities”, said Cox.

According to him, “from 2005 to the present Sol’s vision continues to be one aimed at aggressively growing the business through strategic acquisitions, which are then supported by strong autonomous local organisation that respond quickly to fulfilling customer needs.”

Cox said this formula has worked well for Sol as the group has continued significant growth over the last five years “and we now market petroleum products in 16 countries in the Caribbean, South and Central America.”

He indicated , “branding and reputation is important to Sol and we are happy to open our second Sol shop on the island, the Sol shop is an innovative simple model and we plan to brand many more of our convenience stores.”

Cox stated, “we are only jut beginning, we understand diversity and value the communities with which we do business and expect continued growth.”
