Businesses getting onboard with initiative
7/20/2012
Businesses across Barbados are responding to the call to get onboard with The Revitalisation of Bridgetown Initiative (TRBI) of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Revitalisation of Bridgetown Initiative aims to reclaim Bridgetown as the commercial, cultural and entertainment hub that it once was and an increasing number of businesses are now seeing the opportunities to invest and implant their interests and ideas into the historic capital city.
Now officially inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Historic Bridgetown, with its many businesses large and small, is certainly poised to be transformed into the 24-hour hub that the Chamber envisioned with it conceptualised the Revitalisation of Bridgetown Initiative in 2008.
With about 2 000 businesses in Bridgetown that represent more than 9 000 jobs, there are only benefits to be gained through the Initiative, which has systematically sought to create public and private partnerships and create major benefits for consumers and business persons alike.
One of the key platforms of the Revitalisation of Bridgetown Initiative has been its brand – Bridgetown Alive – which will be just one of the vehicles that will help to drive the vision that will help return Bridgetown to its former glory, using commerce, entertainment, culture and cuisine as some of the main pillars. There will also be an equally important emphasis placed on continuous beautification of the capital city and a comprehensive security system that will ensure the safety of all Bridgetown patrons, Barbadians and visitors alike.
It is the intention of the BCCI that with the continued support of partners in both the public and private sector, Bridgetown will truly become more and more alive with every event and initiative. (AN/PR)
