Business Monday: Cartier boutique comes to our shores

Barbados was further reaffirmed as a first class shopping destination and centre of attraction for investors last week when the doors of the first ever Cartier “King of the Jewellers” boutique in the Caribbean, opened.

The event, which took place with much fanfare, under the patronage of the Hon. Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and in the company of the Executive of Diamonds International and Cartier, Latin America and Caribbean Operation, saw scores of dignitaries, members of parliament and the diplomatic core and many others of Barbados’ who’s who, dressed in red carpet fashion.

Cartier, one of the most sought after brands in the world, with a history of 166 years, is known for its jewellery, leather goods, perfume, pens and other accessories.

Managing Director for the Latin America and Caribbean Operation Mr. Juan Carlos Delgado told those at the opening of the Barbados Boutique which joins the select group of a collection of 300 Cartier Jewellery Boutiques worldwide, “represents the direction the brand is taking in this region, in rethinking our presence in the Caribbean”.

He added that Cartier was not just about quality product offerings but premium customer service to accommodate the new travellers of today – the Brazilians, Russians and Asians – as well as the local residents of Barbados.

Delgado took time out to recognise the premium retail environment offered by the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, stating that he had not seen its equal within the Caribbean. He also lauded the unique partnership which the brand has with Diamonds International.

Mr. Albert Gad, Owner and President of Diamonds International also spoke during the evening’s proceedings, noting that the Cartier partnership was one in which his company took great pride. He gave special thanks to the people of Barbados, including the staff of Diamond’s International, remarking that the company’s success would have been impossible to accomplish without them. (RA)
