Digicel Barbados’ CEO, Conor Looney, outlining the promotion.

Digicel continues to do well in the Barbadian market

This year we are inviting each and every one of our valued customers to 'Bring the Beat' with Digicel

Digicel Barbados’ CEO, Conor Looney, stated, “Our market share continues to increase, more and more customers in Barbados are choosing Digicel.”

While speaking to The Barbados Advocate last week at the launch of the 2016 Digicel Summer Promotion “Bringing the Beat” last week at the Concorde Experience, he added, “Barbadians are choosing to join the bigger and better family, whether that is mobile etc… We have a lot of customers that are coming over to Digicel because of services such as the home phone service that you don’t have to pay a monthly rent, it is a pay as you go system. In terms of absorbing the increase in VAT which we announced at the beginning of the year, this is a year of huge significance to the country and it is our opportunity to give value to the customers and give back – and in that thinking – we actually absorbed the VAT for postpaid and prepaid customers that have data plans with Digicel. It is not something that will continue forever, but it is something that will continue for the next couple of months. Later this year it will be reviewed.

"In the 12 years we have been in Barbados and the 15 in the Caribbean our role is to ensure we give value to our customers and we give back to the communities we are in… As long as we keep giving value to our customers consistently we will continue to be relevant and do well in the market.”

The CEO remarked, “This year we are inviting each and every one of our valued customers to “Bring the Beat” with Digicel, over what is set to be an action packed summer period. This year’s Grand prize is a brand new vehicle compliments of our friends at Courtesy Barbados. The winner will be driving away – I do mean drive away – thanks to free gas from SOL and free insurance compliments of ICBL.

“Each and every single one of our Digicel customers is eligible to win this vehicle. They simply have to pay their post-paid bill on time and in full, activate a new post-paid service, sign up for select Digicel Play bundles, top up with $15 or more, or activate a two week data plan or higher.”

Looney noted, “During this seven-week promotion and thanks to our partners, we have come up with an exciting list of weekly prizes, including cash, the latest Samsung handsets as well as flat screen televisions just to name a few…” (NB)
